Estimating the efficiency in overall energy consumption: Evidence from Slovenian household-level data

This study measures the efficiency of energy consumption in residential sector Slovenia. It extends existing research on estimation electricity by considering multiple sources used households. The detailed disaggregated data from two cross-sectional surveys conducted years 2010 and 2014, resulting a sample 6882 Slovenian households, is estimation. includes services stochastic frontier framework through sub-vector Shephard input distance function. Several household characteristics are considered to control for heterogeneity. results reveal that households have substantial potential savings, which can be achieved replacement inefficient energy-using capital stock changed behavioural patterns. Specifically, we found average inefficiency 25.1% 23.3% indicating slight improvement observed period, also line with EU energy-efficiency targets.
